Welcome to The Country Barn Greenhouse

your gateway

to a beautiful garden

Our greenhouse will re-open on (**/**/**) for the 2010 planting season.

It's time to start planning your 2010 garden

February, although the shortest month of the year, can seem long to gardeners waiting to get their hands dirty once again. There are few outdoor gardening activities to do this time of the year, however gardeners can keep their hands busy by caring for houseplants, planning the new garden for this year and dream about the spring and the arrival of the first crocuses, daffodils and even snowdrops.

We offer a large variety of annuals, perennials, mums and vegetable plants for all your gardening needs.

We also have mulch for your flowerbeds and gardens. Choose from bark, nature blend hardwood or dyed mulch in your choice of black, brown or red.

February is National Bird Feeding Month so make sure you provide plenty of food and shelter for our fine feathered friends needs. You might even want think about adding a variety of plants to provide food and shelter in your landscape plans for 2010.

Gardening Tips:

pots - Vector clipart design (vector image)Don't remove and mulch from perennials too early. Even thought the day might feel like spring is just around the corner, there may still be more cold weather yet to come.

Check your seed supply and see what you might still need to purchase. Pick up a soil mix at your local garden store

and fill the flats. Hang any lights for growing and check all of your gardening tools to see if anything might need to be replaced.

fluorescent tubes has been established as the industry standard. Use one cool white and one warm white tube to obtain a light mixture that is beneficial to plants. (Never use incandescent bulbs for any indoor seedlings, which causes seedlings to stretch and weaken.)

watering-can - Vector clipart design (vector image)Don't start your vegetable plants indoors too early. You only need to start them about six weeks ahead of the time you are

expecting to plant. That is early enough for the "fast growth" species (i.e.. cabbage). Allow eight weeks for the "slower growing"

types such as peppers.

this can break the protective seed coats, causing a reduced germination.
